Dr Milionis was born in 1968 in Ioannina, Greece. He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Ioannina in 1991 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine in the University Hospital of Ioannina.

He worked as a Clinical Attachment at the Department of Molecular Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry at Royal Free Hospital, London, UK (1999). He took a sabbatical in the Stroke Unit of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), Lausanne, Switzerland (2012).

Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, in the University of Ioannina, School of Medicine (Ioannina, Greece) and Consultant at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine (University Hospital of Ioannina). He is also Consultant at the Lipids, Atherosclerosis and Obesity Department and head of the Outpatient Lipid Clinic for Children and Adolescents of the University Hospital of Ioannina.

He is a member of 5 medical societies, including the European Atherosclerosis Society and the Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society and fellow of the European Stroke Organization.

Dr Milionis is a member of the editorial board of two medical journals and a referee of more than 45 international medical journals.

He has participated in several International Multicenter Clinical Trials. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in basic and clinical research in the field of Lipids, Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Risk Factor Management and Stroke.
